Louis van Gaal is urging Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt to snub former club Manchester United and move to Manchester City.
Van Gaal also won the Champions League with Ajax and has weighed into the debate around De Ligt.
After former Ajax manager Peter Bosz told Fox Sports that De Ligt would fit in well at City, Van Gaal agreed, saying: "I think exactly the same.
"Although De Ligt can go to Barcelona too, because I don't like their central defenders either.
"He could play at Barcelona, but he could play for Manchester City also, and in that case I would choose Pep Guardiola over Lionel Messi."
