Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmauel defeats APC at the tribunal


The election petition tribunal sitting in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state has dismissed the case filed by Mr Nsima Ekere against the election of Governor Udom Emmanuel. 

Ekere, a former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, was the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate at the 2019 polls.

The tribunal declared Emmanuel as the duly elected governor of Akwa Ibom state.

The tribunal also granted no award as to cost. In another development, the judgement in a petition filed by the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano state, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, against Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has been reserved by the governorship election petition tribunal sitting in the state.

 Kabir-Yusuf and his party are challenging the declaration of Governor Ganduje as the winner of March 9, governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission. T

he chairman of the tribunal, Justice Halima Shamaki, after listening to the parties in the matter on Wednesday, September 18, said that the judgment date would be communicated to them.
