Appeal Court upholds Governor Ortom’s election

A Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the victory of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, in the March 9 governorship election in the state.

The appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by the defeated All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Emmanuel Jime, for lack of merit.

The state governorship election petition tribunal had also validated Ortom’s victory in the election.

A panel of the appellate court led by Justice Fred Oho on Thursday unanimously held that Ortom was duly returned as Benue State governor during the election.

The panel resolved all the issue in the appeal against the appellants and dismissed it for lack of merit.

The court also awarded a fine of N150,000 against the appellants.
