Jose Mourinho confidants have urged him to choose Arsenal over a return to Real Madrid for his next job.
He has been linked with taking over at both the Emirates and the Bernabeu.
But The Times says those closest to Mourinho have told him the Gunners would be the better choice.
Mourinho left Madrid in 2013 after three years at the helm under difficult circumstances, but Florentino Perez remains fond of the Portuguese manager.
Mourinho and his family remain in London having settled there when he returned to Chelsea five-years ago which would make a move to Arsenal more than feasible.
The motivation of becoming the only manager to win Premier League titles with two different clubs could also serve as a key factor in Mourinho's decision.
