Arrow star reacts to Diggle superhero twist in series finale

Arrow ended after eight seasons last night (January 28) in the US, but there was one scene of note that looks to have set up a major superhero origin story.

After years of fan speculation and teases, the series finale – titled 'Fadeout' – hinted heavily at John Diggle, played by David Ramsey, becoming Green Lantern when he opened a mysterious box that came from a meteor.

As Diggle opened the box, he was greeted by a distinct green light.

"I don't know what that means," Ramsey said at a press screening (via TVLine). "But he does go to Metropolis, and he got a green box. We'll still see, believe it or not. We'll find out.

"This whole thing is exciting... We'll see what all that means."

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim added: "This was something that was worked out over a year ahead with DC Entertainment.

"We very specifically negotiated and discussed the parameters, and I feel like to say anything beyond what we have showed you would violate our agreement with DC."

The series finale also the return of Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak.

Arrow aired on The CW in the US. In the UK, it airs on Sky One and NOW TV.
