Meghan Markle fans are praising her for calling out 'cruel' online bullies in latest speech

On International Women's Day, Meghan Markle took to the stage to deliver an empowering speech as part of the opening South by Southwest Festival event in Texas.

During the keynote speech - which was titled Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen - Meghan called out "cruel" online bullies, while also sharing her own experiences of "toxic abuse" on the internet.

The Duchess of Sussex said: "But the bulk of the bullying and abuse that I was experiencing in social media and online, was when I was pregnant with Archie and with Lili."

"And you just think about that and really wrap your head around what people would be so hateful? It's not catty, it's cruel, why you would do that? Certainly when you're pregnant and you have a newborn," she questioned.

Prince Harry, Meghan's husband and the father of their children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, supported his wife from the front row as she gave the important speech.

However, he wasn't the only one who offered his support to the Duchess. Rather, after Meghan left the stage, many of her fans took to social media to praise the 42-year-old for always addressing such essential topics.

"It was one of the best panel discussions I've heard in a long time. Facts and stats. Loved it! Go Meghan!" one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"You know I love this woman. Meghan Markle set boundaries and said, no, absolutely not. And she lived. I was so, utterly impressed by her and continue to be," a second added.

Others also commented on how proud Harry looked from the audience, with one person attaching a photo of the Prince smiling up at Meghan.

"Look at #PrinceHarry face watching his beautiful wife #DuchessMeghan talking at #SXSW," they said, as someone else shared: "Proud hubby & dad supporting his wife, #DuchessMeghan."

As well as Meghan, the International Women's Day panel included Katie Couric, Errin Haines, Nancy Wang Yuen and Brooke Shields.
