Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have just gotten a downgrade on the British royal family website.
Before today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had individual bios on the site, royal.uk, like the rest of the family members. But now, their bios have been joined together, under the section for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Plus, the intro to the section now reads: “As announced in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of the Royal Family. The couple married in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor on 19 May 2018 and have two children: Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.”
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s bios have also been removed from the family homepage.
“The Royal Family website contains over 5,000 pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said in a statement in 2023. “Following the death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, content has been revisited and updated periodically. Some content may be out of date until this process is complete.”
Readers know Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior royals in 2020, and have since been living in Montecito, California, with their kids. The couple are no longer allowed to use the HRH styling or the word royal in their projects, and so their Sussex Royal Instagram has also not been active since March 2020.
They have, however, launched many projects of their own, including their charity Archewell and a Netflix docuseries on their love story. Harry also released a memoir, Spare, while Meghan had her own podcast, Archetypes, and recently launched a lifestyle platform, American Riviera Orchard, from which she will sell all sorts of goods, including cookbooks, tableware, and natural jams.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared to be mysteriously hidden from the Royal Family website, only to return within an hour after online backlash.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working royals in 2020, but are still listed on the Royal Family website, four years later.
Meghan, 42, and Harry, 39, appeared to be no longer listed as working members of the Royal Family on their website briefly for an hour earlier today.
The duke and duchess were moved and combined into a separate section of the website under royal.uk/sussex.

However, the couple have since returned to be listed under the tab of Members of The Royal Family.
Prince Harry and Meghan used to be slotted between Princess Alexandra and Prince Andrew.
Prince Andrew is also still listed on the website as a member of the Royal Family, despite the Duke of York stepping down from royal duties in 2019.
GB News understands the changes were part of a routine update that took a while to work through the system.
Several social media accounts posted about Harry and Meghan being removed from the website, before the couple were reinstated.
One said: "It would seem that FINALLY, Harry and Meghan have been removed from the Royal Family website.
"Given that they do not serve the Crown or Country and only themselves, I’m certain they won’t be too upset."
Another wrote: "Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again been demoted on the royal website!"
On January 8, 2020, Harry and Meghan took to their former Instagram profile, Sussex Royal, to announce their intentions of stepping back as senior royals.
They wrote: "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
"We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
"It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.
"We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages."
Prince Harry and Meghan subsequently settled in California in the summer of 2020.
They are raising their two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, in Montecito.
The couple have only returned to the UK together on a handful of occasions in recent years.
These included the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee and her State Funeral.
