Meghan Markle's new lifestyle brand could be in trouble already, claims a source.
The Duchess of Sussex launched American Riviera Orchard (ARO) earlier this year with a slick Instagram campaign. She even sent limited-edition jars of strawberry jam in a basket of lemons out to a lucky select group last month to show off the label's first product.
However a source has claimed Meghan may have already hit a snag as she's struggling to find a CEO to run the company. The insider even claimed Netflix, which signed a deal with the Duchess and husband Prince Harry in 2020, could step in.
The source claims despite a big search and several interviews being held for the position, the former actress has now begun negotiations with the streaming giant. They claim the brand could enter into a partnership with ARO.
"This is something new for Netflix," the source said. 'It would run the lifestyle business with Meghan, developing products as spin-offs from her show.
"If a partnership is agreed, it's likely that Netflix would install its own CEO to run operations."
Launching the brand last month on social media, Meghan, 42, appeared in a video where she could be seen busying herself in a kitchen, arranging flowers and whisking in a bowl while donning a crisp, white apron.
An insider told the Daily Mail that the brand is meant to launch with a new cookery show for Netflix and at some point there will be a book and a blog.
Meghan's lawyer has also applied to trademark the brand in the US for products including cutlery, recipe books, tablecloths, napkins, jams, edible oils, vegetable and dairy-based spreads. The trademark application also appears to extend to a physical shop where items could be sold and purchased in person.
