Prince Harry has been urged to step down from his role in the Invictus Games by veterans who feel that the event has lost its original meaning. Critics argue that Harry and Meghan Markle's recent involvement has made the Games too focused on royalty.
On GB News, royal biographer Angela Levin discussed the issue with host Mark Dolan. Levin mentioned that around 2,000 ex-military personnel have left the Games, believing that it has strayed from its original purpose.
"Some veterans would like Harry to step down," Angela said, criticizing the current state of the Games, stating that it has become too royal. Meghan has been making speeches and even led a march, despite lacking experience with military marching. This has upset many veterans, as they feel the event should be about them, not about Meghan's involvement.
"Harry refuses to resign, so Invictus will need to seek advice if they intend to remove him. A decision will be reached shortly after the events of this week in Birmingham," Neil Sean reported.
The problem, however, is that despite the unprecedented media coverage, it's not positive. Many people are unhappy about Meghan's prominent role in the Games. Last year, Meghan was accused of stealing attention from the veterans participating in the event. She arrived late to the event in Düsseldorf, a day after Prince Harry had kicked off the Games. According to body language expert Jesri Rose, Meghan appeared to march in front of the veterans, stealing the spotlight from the real protagonists of the Invictus Games.
"The comments come hot on the heels of speculation that Prince Harry was also not pleased with how his wife commanded attention away from him and the Invictus participants," Rose said.
Meanwhile, Harry invited the royal family to attend the 10-year celebration ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral in his home country. However, according to Page Six, he received no response after issuing the invitations.
"A well-placed London socialite who knows the feuding brothers has confirmed that Harry invited William and some other family members to the event. However, they seem to have snubbed his olive branch by not issuing any response to his invitation," the publication claimed.
