Prince Harry has been urged to "stop criticising his family" if he has any hopes of reuniting with his father, claims a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex has a strained relationship with King Charles, with the pair growing apart after Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals. Things went from bad to worse when the Sussexes hit out at the Royal Family in their Netflix docuseries.
Harry then missed out on the chance to meet with the King when he returned to the UK earlier this month. Royal expert Tom Quinn has now claimed Harry needs to "keep his head down" if he wants to mend his broken relationship with his family.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Tom said: "Friends of the couple insist that Harry genuinely thought his father would see him during this visit but unless Harry mends his ways, keeps his head down and stops criticising his family, the estrangement with the king his father is going to become permanent.
Harry had hoped to meet with his dad during his brief return to London on May 7. However, a spokesperson for the Duke said: "It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full programme.
"The Duke of course is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon." However, conflicting reports suggested the King had actually offered to see his son.
It's believed the monarch offered Harry the chance to stay in a royal residence for the London trip, but that was turned down by Harry. Instead, the Duke of Sussex opted to stay in a hotel.
Charles offered Harry a place to stay because he knew his son no longer has an official residence in the UK, according to The Sunday Times. Harry and Meghan were residents of Frogmore Cottage but were evicted by the King last year.
