Prince Harry did the Royal Family a "favour" when he announced the change in his residency, according to a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex announced last month that he was becoming a US citizen after relocating stateside in 2020 when he stepped down from his role as a senior working member of the Royal Family along with his wife, Meghan Markle. Such a move is said to have seen the Royal Family label Harry "America's problem" now, according to royal expert Tom Quinn, who said Harry changing his residency location was his "final goodbye".
The royal expert exclusively tells The Mirror: "Prince William and King Charles see the Royal family as far too important to be jeopardised by a Prince who doesn’t want to be a prince. And besides, the royal family can do without Harry. It’s even been whispered at Kensington Palace and Clarence House that Harry has done the royal family a favour. A difficult, temperamental, unstable prince is now America’s problem."
Harry's decision to become a US resident was first noted in a Companies House document for Harry's business, Travalyst Ltd, in which he listed America as his primary residence. This was effective from June 29, 2023 - the day he was forced to turn over the keys to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, effectively leaving him without a permanent UK home.
