Tyler Perry Refuses to Lend Meghan Markle His Studios for Cooking Show Without Payment

Tyler Perry declined to offer Meghan his studio for the production of a cooking show without payment. Meghan Markle found herself facing what could be considered a snub, but this time it didn't come from the palace. Instead, it came directly from Hollywood royalty, Tyler Perry. The renowned filmmaker's Tyler Perry Studios has recently partnered with Asylum Entertainment Group in a joint venture focused on creating and producing unscripted content. As part of this new deal, Antoaneta Starling was appointed as the Vice President of Unscripted Programming for Tyler Perry Studios.

Under the agreement, Tyler Perry Studios and Asylum will collaborate to develop, produce, and distribute unscripted programming. This news comes as Tyler Perry continues to expand his already busy schedule of projects at his company. He recently signed a new multi-year deal with BET Media Group, which included the renewal of eight of his shows for BET and their streaming platform, BET Plus. Additionally, Perry expanded his agreement with Netflix, adding TV series to his repertoire.

Asylum Entertainment Group's unscripted content group, part of Endeavor, is also venturing further into non-scripted content. They have recently made investments in UK-based production companies, including Moon and Beck SOHO Studio Entertainment and D Pictures.

Asylum has also entered into a creative partnership with Scott Storch's Large Eyes Entertainment. Steve Michaels, CEO of Asylum Entertainment Group, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Tyler Perry Studios, calling it a fusion of unparalleled talent, ingenuity, and passion for storytelling.

Previously, Tyler Perry had extended a helping hand to Meghan, offering her support in her quest to reclaim her acting career. However, he recently turned down Meghan's request for assistance with a new Netflix series. According to a source close to an insider, Meghan Markle approached Tyler Perry's studio when she began producing a cooking show. Initially, she had invited Tyler Perry to direct Prince Harry's polo film, but he declined to collaborate with her. Subsequently, she sought to borrow one of his studios for her cooking show, but her request was also denied. It seemed that Meghan had always expected Tyler Perry to work with her without payment. Tyler Perry made the executive decision to distance himself professionally, which must have been a difficult pill for Meghan to swallow. It serves as a harsh reminder of the realities of the entertainment industry, where talent and reputation truly matter.

There have been reports suggesting that Lemonada executives are concerned that Meghan's upcoming Netflix cooking show will divert attention from their podcast. This apparent concern didn't sit well with Lemonada. The source stated that Lemonada surely expected to be Meghan's priority project, but Meghan seemed to have decided to focus on her Netflix show and had bigger plans in mind. The alleged pushback from the podcast followed the news that Meghan's Spotify series, "Archewell Audio," was not renewed for a second season. According to the source, Meghan is now in desperate need of a hit with her Netflix show, which revolves around a lifestyle brand, in order to prove that she and Prince Harry are still relevant in Hollywood. However, the insider holds little hope, as most of their previous endeavors have ended in disappointment.

Meanwhile, a well-placed source in Tinseltown informed In Touch magazine that there is little respect for the Duchess, who commands substantial fees for her content. The source remains skeptical of Lemonada's explanation for the delayed podcast release, citing Meghan's alleged focus on the cooking show. Many individuals work on multiple media projects simultaneously, and even though Archewell might have limited resources, it should still be capable of handling multiple projects. It seems unbelievable that Meghan couldn't even promise the first episode of a podcast to launch within seven months. After all, it's not even a dramatic series requiring actors and significant production costs.
