On Tuesday afternoon, the Prince of Wales hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace on behalf of King Charles, with Princess Katherine in attendance. William invited other young members of the royal family to join him, including Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, and Mike Tindall.
Despite the drizzly weather, Zara seemed to be making a subtle statement when she arrived at Buckingham Palace for the event. She looked stunning in a white dress adorned with pink buttons, pairing it with candy pink suede heels and a whimsical Barbie pink hat.
While many attendees shielded themselves from the rain with umbrellas, Zara added an unexpected accessory to her ensemble: clear protective stoppers on her heels to prevent damage to the grass.
Some royal fans interpreted this as a subtle message to Meghan Markle, who had previously faced criticism for wearing high heels to a polo match. Meghan's choice of footwear, which included stilettos, raised questions about the practicality of wearing such shoes on grass, potentially damaging the field.
Meghan's preference for stilettos at sporting events has also drawn attention in the past, with comparisons to her sister-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who often opts for more practical footwear like loafers.
This isn't the first time Zara has seemingly thrown shade at Meghan. In 2022, she and Katherine joined forces to challenge some of Meghan's claims made since stepping down as senior working royals in 2020.
Meghan's assertion that she intentionally avoided wearing bright colors to avoid clashing with senior family members was seemingly countered by Catherine's choice of a festive deep burgundy coat at a Christmas carol concert. Other members of the royal family, including Zara and Princess Charlotte, also embraced the same shade, suggesting a coordinated response to Meghan's claims.
