The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract has announced that His Majesty The King will continue his Royal Patronage.
Following a review of more than 1,000 Royal Patronages since the King’s accession to the throne in 2022, King Charles has retained his Royal Patronage of The Prince of Wales Hospice.
The King, the former Prince of Wales, has been a committed supporter of The Prince of Wales Hospice since its beginning. He first became involved in 1986, before the Hospice was even built, having been notified about the colossal effort in the Five Towns area to establish a local hospice.
In the same year, he visited the area to meet with the people raising money for the Hospice and to give his support for the great cause.
He became the Hospice’s Patron in 1987 and its President in 2000. He gave his name to recognise the Hospice's essential work for the Five Towns area community.

Gordon Tollefson, the Chair of Trustees at the Hospice, said: “We are delighted and honoured that His Majesty is retaining his Royal Patronage.
“The King is an integral part of our history. He was hugely supportive of us being able to build and open the Hospice, and he has continued to give his invaluable help ever since, for which we extend our deepest gratitude.
“We look forward to welcoming King Charles back to the Hospice in the future.”
