Rapper, Nicki Minaj has taken shots at Jay-Z after Kendrick Lamar was selected as the headliner of the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show instead of her former record label boss, mentor and friend, Lil Wayne.

The National Football League, Apple Music and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation recently announced Kendrick Lamar as the headliner of the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, Lil Wayne's home town.

Following the announcement, some fans criticized Jay-Z, who was in charge of the selection, for picking Lamar instead of Wayne, seeing that Wayne is a legend in the rap game and also from New Orleans where the event will be held.

Minaj in a series of posts on her X handle on Monday night, September 9, took several swipes at Jay-Z as she fumed over Lil Wayne’s snub.

 

She wrote, “Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego. Your hatred for Birdman, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?! Lil Wayne! The GOAT! Nola, what’s good?!

“Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. Sh*t sad. House n*gger timz. but it’s good fi dem! No loyalty? Welp. then n*ggaz will keep son’ing you!”

Minaj added that Lil Wayne has impacted the hip-hop world with his talent and grace as he brought some hip-hop greats like herself and Drake into the spotlight. She then wondered why Jay-Z is “spiteful and evil” despite having everything money can buy.
