Tom Cruise and Heather Locklear could have become one of Hollywood's most iconic couples – if only they made it past their first date.

Melrose Place star Locklear, 62, revealed at the '90s Con Florida event, according to People, that the pair first met at an audition before eventually going on a dancing date.

"He didn't quite cut it," she joked.

"We went out dancing to Club Lingerie at that time and, and I've said this before, I mean, he was really cute."

She said he showed off some of the moves he went on to show off in his now-iconic film, Risky Business. 

She said she was in her "rock and roll girl" phase and they just didn't match.

Before the date, he went to her house with fellow actor Sean Penn, and she revealed what Cruise was like.

"And they were just nice, but he was very, 'yes ma'am' to me, and I was like, 'okay, sir,'" she said.

Locklear is engaged to fiancé Chris Heisser, with the pair reportedly getting engaged back in 2020. They reportedly went to high school together.

She is mother to daughter Ava, 26, with her rocker ex Richie Sambora, 65, who is known for his role in the band Bon Jovi.

About Heisser, she previously told People: "When I'm with him, I go, 'This feels like home. You feel like home.'"

Just three months ago, the actress revealed her beloved father had passed away.

Sharing a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram, she called her late father "the most brilliant man I have ever known". 

She added: "The bar is oh so high. The love of my life. The few the proud. I love you dad. RIP."

Her ex-husband, Tommy Lee, wrote: "Gonna miss that man and his beautiful spirit! 💥 I'm sorry for you and your family's loss Heather 🤍."
