Prince Harry marks his 40th birthday today, a day that "will haunt him" as it falls just a week after the anniversary of the passing of his grandmother.
The Duke of Sussex's suffered what royal experts called his "second-saddest birthday" back in 2022 as it came merely seven days after the tragic death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8. The timing of the celebrations is also thought to stir up memories of his mother Princess Diana, who passed just two weeks prior to his 13th birthday, 25 years ago.
Royal commentator Eric Schiffer suggests that the timing of his grandmother's death will prompt the Duke to reconsider the "cesspool of aggravation he and wife Meghan created for Her Majesty" in the years preceding her death.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Schiffer said: "Harry's birthday will likely bring up the pain of his mother's death.
"[It will] cause him to revisit things that he might have wished he did over with his grandmother including some of the positions that he and Meghan took that led to a cesspool of aggravation for Her Majesty."
Reports suggested that Harry and Meghan declined an invitation from the Queen to visit her and other royals at Balmoral just weeks before Her Majesty's death.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl disclosed on GB News at the time that the late monarch had invited the couple to join a "big sleepover" at the Royal residence in Aberdeenshire - an olive branch that the couple reportedly rejected.
The Sun claims, via a source, that Harry will have a big birthday bash without wife Meghan.
The Duke of Sussex is said to be going abroad on a lads-only holiday with his “closest mates,” while Meghan will remain home with their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
