Anna Kendrick slams director who embarrassed her in front of 100 extras

Anna Kendrick has blasted a director for embarrassing her in front of one hundred extras following an improvised scene.

After being asked the worst note she's ever received on a shoot, the Pitch Perfect actress, 39, shared her encounter with unnamed director who belittled her after they had asked her to 'making something up' and go off script.

Recounting the 'icky' moment at a live taping for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Anna said that the incident felt like a 'power move' on their part.

She recalled: 'I remember a director once in a room full of 100 extras or something being like, 'Hey, on this next one just try something. Just make something up. Just improv something.'

'And I did it and then the director called cut and came over and, once again in front of 100 extras, was like, 'Oof, let's go back to the script!''

'It really felt like a very specific power move thing to embarrass me, to gain dominance. It was very icky.

'And then the thing that I improved ended up in the trailer. So, f*ck you!'

While Anna didn't reveal the name of the director, the live audience audibly gasped as she shared her story on the episode.

Anna has starred in over 40 films, including Twilight, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and A Simple Favor.

While she's had her fair share of receiving notes from directors, she recently made her very own directorial debut for the Netflix crime thriller, Woman of the Hour.

Written by Ian McDonald, the recently released film is based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala and his 1978 appearance on the television show The Dating Game in the midst of his murder spree.

The movie stars Anna as the game show contestant Cheryl Bradshaw and Daniel Zovatto as Alcala, alongside Nicolette Robinson and Tony Hale.

At the time of the show, Alcala had murdered at least five women, and his appearance on the episode later earned him the nickname, The Dating Game Killer.

In a recent interview, Anna revealed there's a particularly 'weird' moment in Woman of the Hour that she actually experienced in real life when she was just 19 years old.

During an appearance on The View, she said: 'There's this scene at the beginning where I'm in a casting office, and I stole little things from my real life.

'There's a moment where they ask me if I do nudity and they make this really weird, specific comment about my body that's lifted verbatim from a thing that happened to me when I was 19,'

The scene Anna was referring to occurs early on in the movie when her character Cheryl finds herself in a Hollywood casting call in 1978.

When Cheryl tells the directors she isn't comfortable with nudity, one of the men stares directly at her chest and says: 'I'm sure they're fine.'

Confirming this did happen to her two decades ago, Anna added: 'I was just like, "Oh, do you guys mind saying this thing?" And I wasn't sure I was gonna keep it in the movie but it's funny in the movie. We can all laugh at my humiliation, that's fine, we're allowed.'
