The first season of Bridgerton catapulted the period drama to success on Netflix. The series starred Regé-Jean Page as Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, and Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne, who eventually became his wife. However, since the show was set to focus on different characters each season, Page decided to step away and pursue new projects, which seems to have brought about some changes in his physique.

After the first season, it was revealed that the Netflix drama would be based on the individual books by Julie Quinn, each telling the story of a different Bridgerton sibling and their journey to find love. Regé-Jean Page chose not to return for the second season as it wouldn't focus on him and Phoebe Dynevor.

Let's not forget that Regé-Jean Page played the Duke of Hastings, one of London's most eligible bachelors, in the first season of the popular Netflix series. Initially uninterested in marriage, he ended up falling deeply in love with the eldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne, after a marriage of convenience.

With the release of the second season and the announcement of the third currently in production, rumors surfaced that the 34-year-old actor was in talks to return for the new installment. Although no formal contract had been agreed upon, discussions were reportedly ongoing between him, the show's producers, and Netflix.

However, after several days of rumors, in an interview, Regé-Jean Page revealed that he had no plans to return. In fact, he stated that he preferred another actor to take over once and for all, surprising all the fans who knew him from the drama. Interestingly, the star is very active in movies and new series, even appearing at a premiere event where everyone noticed his physical transformation.

Fans didn't hesitate to comment on Regé-Jean Page's photo, noting that he appeared a bit slimmer compared to his appearance in Bridgerton as the Duke of Hastings. On the other hand, the star seems to continue participating in the animal documentary where he narrates 'Surviving Paradise: A Family Tale.'
