As the toxic feud erupts again, insiders reveal Prince Harry has a new – more damaging – book in the pipeline and he won’t spare his formerly beloved sister-in-law

He dropped a ton of bombshells in 2023 when his memoir, Spare, was published – ripping a hole through the heart of the royal family. As Prince Harry’s tell-all book exposed excruciating details about dramas with his brother William, father King Charles and mother-in-law Queen Camilla, he ominously revealed, ‘It could have been two books.’

Now insiders tell Closer that a second book is in fact in the works and, worryingly for the royals – and in particular the Prince and Princess of Wales - it looks set to be even more vicious. ‘Prince Harry has enough material for a follow-up to Spare and is planning to use it - and it’s set to be even more explosive than the first one,’ says our source.

The latest twist came, as last week, Harry was left infuriated when his legal bid for police protection when he's in the UK was refused - and he now faces a £1.5m bill for court costs.

Tensions are at an all-time high between Harry, 40, and wife Meghan Markle, 43, and the rest of the royal family but our source says, 'The second book will be like a grenade being thrown into the throne room of Buckingham Palace.

'There will be no turning back for the Sussexes. They will be in permanent exile. The details will be so damaging for the royal family that it could blow them apart.’ And this time Harry has apparently got his focus set on sister-in-law Kate Middleton. Our source says, ‘Harry won’t hold back on Kate. He has no allegiance there anymore.’

Back in happier times, Harry, Meghan, William and Kate often stepped out together as a unit, and even collaborated together on the Royal Foundation charity, being dubbed the ‘Fab Four.’ But after the Sussexes quit their roles as working royals and fled the country, a chasm opened up – notably after Harry and Meghan gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey to make allegations of racism within The Firm.

Since then, relations have become even more toxic. Things turned yet more sour last month, when Kate and William hired the former aide for the Sussexes, who’d accused Meghan of bullying staff – something she denied. William made Jason Knauf the CEO of The Earthshot Prize, but in 2021 it was revealed that he had made a formal complaint about Meghan saying, ’I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to bully two former PAs out of the household in the past year.’

Our source says that William’s hiring of Jason was ‘the final straw.’ ‘That means the gloves are off. Harry doesn’t like it when his wife becomes a target and that’s what she’s become. He’ll stand by her no matter what, even if that can sometimes be blindly.’

If Harry targets Kate in his upcoming book, it will be a far cry to how close the two once were, with Harry describing her in his memoir as, ‘the sister I had never had and always wanted.’ While an insider previously said that Kate wanted to take steps ‘towards making peace’ with Harry, our source now says, ‘Their relationship has gone beyond repair at this point. Nothing will bring them back together unfortunately. It's now just a game to [the Wales and Sussexes] to see who can one-up the other.'

In Harry’s first book, he exposed plenty of revelations about the royal family, including claiming that his brother William had hurt him by calling Meghan ‘difficult’ and ‘rude’. Our source says, ‘The first book caused irreparable damage between the Sussexes and the rest of the royals, with senior figures said to be stunned by how many private and intimate moments Harry chose to share.’

More private moments will no doubt be covered in this new book, as well as Harry’s huge legal battle, where he made allegations that the royals were not providing adequate security in the UK for his family. But whatever the contents of the book will be, it will further widen the distance between Harry and his family.

As our source shares, ‘Harry himself has said he can write a follow-up, but it would mean he wouldn’t hear from his family again… no going back. Because they have already cut him off, he thinks, what’s the point in keeping it private? It will be shocking.’
