Police sell detainees to ritualists for N80k each - Kwara residents raise serious allegation

- The police in Kwara were accused of selling detainees to ritualists

- He however insisted that the allegations were false

Lawan Ado who is the commissioner of police in Kwara state has announced the redeployment of some officers at the Adewole Police Division in Ilorin, the state capital.

According to report, the decision followed allegation raised by residents that the police were selling suspects detained in the stations to ritualists for N80,000.

The police chief said this during a visit of the district governor, Rotary International, District 9125, Mr. Mbanefo Nnoka, and his team to the command headquarters.

He insisted that the allegations were false unfounded and untrue but that he decided to redeploy them to avoid needless rift.

He said no one has come forward with evidence to indict the policemen on the allegation of human trafficking.

He said: “But we have been redeploying the policemen there. More than half of them have now been transferred and soon, the other half will be redeployed so that even if there is anybody who is involved – which no information has established – we will at least remove him from the area.”

Nnoka called on Nigerians to support the fight against crime as the police was everyone’s friend.

NAIJ.com had reported that suspected ritualists arrested by the police in Ogun stateconfessed to trading and using human body parts for money ritual.

Ahmed Iliyasu who is the commissioner of police in the state paraded the suspects while allaying the fears of residents.

He said the suspects were arrested by the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

He said the first syndicate comprised of two suspects, Lateef Aremu and Kola Sodipo and that they were arrested after they got information about them.
