Barcelona complete £35m signing of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla. Barcelona has paid the buy out clause for Clément Lenglet who is now no lon...
The player will sign a contract with the Club
for the next five seasons until 30 June
2023, with a buy out clause valued at 300
million euros.
Lenglet began his career with Nancy, making
85 appearances from his debut in 2013,
and winning the Ligue 2 title in 2015–16. In
January 2017, he joined Sevilla for a €5
million fee.
He made his debut for the Andalusians
eight days later in a 3–3 home draw with
Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Copa del
Rey (6–3 aggregate loss). On 15 January
he made his league bow against the same
opponents in a 2–1 win at the Ramón
Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium that ended their
40-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
He played 17 of their league fixtures in the
second half of the season.
Lenglet has become a key part of the
Sevilla defence and made 51 appearances
in all competitions this season. He put in an
eye-catching display in the club's
impressive UEFA Champions League round-
of-16 win over Manchester United.
After signing by Barca, Lenglet would join
Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and Thomas
Vermaelen as the club's defenders for next
season. January signing Yerry Mina, who
has struggled to make an impression, is
likely to depart.
