Royal biographer Tina Brown recently took to the Mixed Signals podcast to express her concerns, claiming that the Duchess of Sussex is attempting to become “an instant Beyoncé or Michelle Obama,” without having the necessary foundation or long-term focus.


Accusations of Shallow Ventures

Brown, a former editor at Vanity Fair, voiced strong opinions on Markle’s multiple projects, including her Netflix series, podcast, lifestyle brand, and ShopMy influencer-like page. She criticized these ventures as “enormously shallow,” questioning Markle’s ability to maintain a consistent focus across her many efforts.


“She just never stops making announcements and never really follows through,” Brown added. “Do it really well, and then do something else.”


Meghan Markle’s Alleged Lack of Focus and Confidence

In her critique, Brown went further to argue that Markle is “too ADD”, constantly launching new projects but failing to execute them to their full potential. Brown highlighted that stars like Beyoncé and Michelle Obama have spent years building a solid foundation before expanding their brand, something she believes Markle is missing.


"She’s devoid of self-confidence,” Brown explained. “She doesn’t have the background that has built those people.”


This comment underscores the idea that successful icons like Beyoncé and Michelle Obama didn’t rush into multifaceted careers without first establishing credibility and authenticity in their respective fields.


Ignoring Good Advice?

Brown also criticized Markle for not heeding the advice of experienced professionals. According to her, Meghan has received guidance from well-established figures in the industry but tends to make decisions based on her own instincts, rather than on the counsel of those who know the business better.


“She’s had a lot of good people willing to give advice… and then she doesn’t do it, and does something else,” Brown claimed.


This, Brown suggests, might be contributing to the perception that Meghan is not following through on her goals in a focused, strategic way.


Prince Harry and Meghan’s Relationship Dynamic

Adding to the critique, Brown implied that Prince Harry, Meghan’s husband, may be contributing to the problem. She claimed that Meghan often serves as the "major adviser" to Harry, stating that he listens mainly to her, which might not be the most beneficial dynamic for either of them.


“That’s not a very good combination really for either of them,” Brown concluded.


Despite Criticism, Meghan’s Brand Gains Traction

While Meghan Markle continues to face backlash, it’s important to note that her brand is still gaining traction. For instance, her As Ever collection sold out within an hour of release, and her Netflix series With Love, Meghan has already been renewed for a second season.
