It seems the tensions between King Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still running high. Recent reports suggest that Charles may have snubbed an invitation from Harry and Meghan to celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary.
Meanwhile, the monarch apparently lavished his grandson, Prince George, with a very special gift - a vintage guitar that once belonged to music icon John Bon Jovi.
The invitations to commemorate the Sussexes' anniversary were seen by many as an olive branch, an effort by Harry and Meghan to repair the fractured relationship with the rest of the Royal Family. After all, 6 years of marriage is a milestone worth celebrating together.
However, it's said that Charles, who is still reportedly upset over Harry's criticism of his parenting, simply ignored or declined the invitation without so much as a response. This clear rejection sends a strong message - the King wants nothing to do with honoring the Sussexes at this point.
In contrast, just days later, reports emerged of the extravagant gift Charles bestowed upon young George for his 9th birthday.
The stark difference in how Charles treats his two sons' families is certainly noteworthy. As the new monarch, he needs to be careful not to appear to openly favor one branch over another. But his lingering feelings about Harry and Meghan's very public departure from the Royal fold are clearly still quite raw.
With Harry's recent behavior, like partying solo on his anniversary instead of acknowledging the invite, the rift between the Sussexes and the UK Royals seems far from mended.
This latest perceived snub from Charles may only serve to drive them further apart. It remains to be seen whether the King can find a way to heal the divide within his family.
